Money on XPR Network
Stablecoins & Payments
Digital dollars and payments on XPR Network, in plain English.
What is a Stablecoin?
A crypto token built to track a steady asset, usually the US dollar. One dollar stablecoin aims to stay worth about one dollar. It usually does, but it depends on what backs it, and stablecoins have slipped off their peg before.
Meet the Metal Dollar (XMD)
XMD is backed by a basket of other dollar stablecoins, such as USDC (Circle), PYUSD (PayPal) and USDP (Paxos), not by one issuer. You mint XMD by depositing one of those 1:1, and redeem it the same way, on Metal X. The Metal DAO reviews what goes in the basket.
Learn About XMD →Send to a name, not an address
On XPR Network you send to an @username. Type the name, enter the amount, confirm with your face or fingerprint in WebAuth. It arrives in about a second, and there's no gas fee. Check the name twice. A sent transfer can't be pulled back.
How It Works →Banks and the bigger picture
Metallicus builds payment and digital-dollar tools for financial institutions as well as for people. It is listed in the Federal Reserve's FedNow service explorer, the US instant-payment system. Institutions can also propose their own stablecoins for the Metal Dollar basket through the Metal DAO. For current partners and programs, read Metallicus's own news.
